Blank wall to bold botanicals

I’ve always loved Chevron Island — it’s the gateway to the Gold Coast between the coast and the city. The local liquor store has a blank wall just begging to become a landmark. Recently, I created a full mural mock-up in Procreate to explore what a large-scale typographic artwork could look like in that spot, inspired by the Gold Coast’s tropical energy and calm optimism. Using sunset tones, the design blends my lettering with oversized frangipani blooms, soft gradient waves and layered shadows, creating a piece that feels bold from a distance and detailed up close.

Even though this is still a concept mural and not yet installed, it represents the type of commercial artwork I’m excited to bring to more Gold Coast businesses and public spaces. Chevron Island has such a unique personality — coastal yet urban, relaxed yet stylish — a mural that celebrates that identity has real potential to become a talking point for locals and visitors. Colour and type can completely change how a building is experienced, turning a plain wall into something uplifting, photogenic and memorable.

For cafés, boutiques, real-estate developments and hospitality venues, a statement wall isn’t just decoration — it’s organic marketing. A mural becomes a backdrop for social media photos, a visual anchor for brand storytelling and a way for customers to connect emotionally with a space. Hand-painted artwork is warm, human and distinctive in a way that digital signage or generic wallpaper can never replicate.

If you’re on Chevron Island, Surfers Paradise or anywhere on the Gold Coast and looking for a custom mural that celebrates place, typography and tropical expression, I’d love to chat. Whether the wall is concrete, brick or timber, the right colours and words can transform it — and change the energy of a whole street.
